2 weeks to go before its rotation time baby!!!

I'm kinda excited the semester is almost over
Was posted in the Accident & Emergency (A & E) ward
It was okay, we saw a good number of cases
Worked on and improved my clerking skills
The doctors were quite nice and helpful
I guess maybe its cos we were not being evaluated by them
I have one exam next 2 weeks
After that exam I won't have to write any exams till my last final exam to graduate(still have professional exams to write)
Sheesh, medicine never ends
It will only be evaluations from our consultants
Will be starting rotations proper in september
I'm sooo excited
Time is moving fast and I love it that way
Can't wait to graduate

I've already planned out my rotations
Want to do the major/core rotations first
And after that I'll do some electives
I'm thinking of which one to start first
Being asking lots of questions
Wanted to start with Psychiatry but changed my mind cos its kinda depressing and will prefer to do one or two other before I do it
I thought of surgery too but realised it will be better to have a good knowledge of internal medicine first before doing it
So I've decided to do Pediatrics first

When it came to what specialty I wanted to take
I thought of Gynecology but my Aunt told me it was time consuming and very demanding & is best suited for an unmarried lady
I then thought of pediatrics but later realised kids are not easy to handle and understand
I thought of internal medicine
Surgery is out of the question cos I also want to have time for my family esp. my kids
I guess when I'm through with rotations I'll get a clearer view of what I really want to specialise in
I have less than 2 years to finish andd I'm so happy about that

Seems tough to to decide which specialty to start with. I always thought orthopedics would be an interesting specialty.

YAY!!! I'm happy for you.
I don't get to start rotations till mid next year. I'm looking 4ward to it, but with mixed feelings, i know the hrs r gonna be crazy, but i also cant wait to see all i've been reading in Robbins & Snell come to life.

I agree with u abt not starting with psych. Most of my friends like to start with internal medicine, but ped doesn't sound like a bad place to start.

Jus yday, my mum was asking abt wat i'd like to specialize in, i know i really cant decide till i do my cores @ least, but on the matter of gynea, do u really see urself peering into chlamydia colonised vaginas for the rest of ur days? Think on it dear.

I'm starting to think anaesthesiology, cuz it's not too personal, but the malpractice suits against them is on the rise daily.
